Downloading & Printing Documents

Downloading and printing documents within Click Contracts App

Written by Karina Mae Cariaga

You can download and print the documents in an envelope at any point, whether you are still building it or it has already been signed. There are two ways in, and both open the same window.

From the dashboard

  1. Click the Envelopes tab from your dashboard.

  2. Find the envelope you want and click it to open its details.

  3. Click Download.

From Review or Sign & send

  1. Open the Review or Sign & send section of the envelope.

  2. Click Download documents at the top of the left-hand column.

While you are building the envelope, the button sits at the top of the left column.

In the download window

  1. Every document is ticked to begin with. Untick anything you do not want, or use Select All.

  2. To get one file instead of several, switch on Combine selected PDFs into one file (digital signatures will not be verified). This option only appears once two or more items are selected.

  3. Click Download. The files are saved to your computer’s Downloads folder.

  4. Print the document if you need your clients to sign on paper.

Pick what you want, then Download.

A note on combining. Merging signed PDFs into one file means the digital signatures in them can no longer be verified electronically. The document is still valid and still readable — but if you need the signatures to stay verifiable, download them as separate files.

To combine PDFs while you are building an envelope, rather than at download, see Combining Multiple PDFs into One File.

Proof of signature: the Click certificate

In the same window, tick Click certificate (Select All ticks it too). It is a PDF with:

  • the envelope ID, subject and status, who created it and who owns it;

  • for every signer and approver: name, email, role, when it was sent, viewed and signed, and their IP address;

  • CC recipients, and any changes to the recipients.

Times are in Central time. The option appears once at least one person has signed or approved. While the envelope is still out the certificate is titled Envelope In Progress; once it is complete, Certificate Of Completion. Only you can download it from the envelope: your clients’ download from the signing email does not include it.
